OXFORD DICTIONARY'Serendipity'The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way: 'a fortunate stroke of serendipity'
A dozen years ago I was lounging on the deck of a Greek ferry between Amorgos and Tinos. Through squinty eyes I noticed a girl sitting on a bench seat. Gabrielle was French and was a little bashful when I asked to photograph her.'Why?' she asked'Because I've never photographed a French girl before and you remind me of Juliette Binoche''
My baby plastic Ricoh FF1 on HP5 did the rest.
oOo
Three days later I'm leading a night seascape workshop with my tour group. In the distance I see Gabrielle swimming with her boyfriend. Serendipitous. Damm the seascape!'Hi Gabrielle, do you remember me?

I'm a great believer in serendipity in life and photography. Sometimes, serendipity just needs a little helping hand.
